NCC Education Digi curriculum

A progressive computing curriculum from ages 5 to 14. Give your child the digital knowledge, computing skills, and confidence to participate successfully in an increasingly technology-driven world. Structured pathways through digital literacy, computing, programming, and online safety from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3.

Ages 5–14 • Grades 1–9 • Key Stages 1–3 • Online learning

A digital curriculum that grows with your child

From foundational digital skills to programming and computational thinking, digital education is about much more than learning how to use a computer. The NCC Education Digi Curriculum progressively develops students' digital literacy, computing, and coding capabilities across Grades 1–9.

Students begin by learning how to use technology confidently and responsibly before progressing into programming, algorithms, data structures, computer systems, and computational problem-solving. Throughout the curriculum, digital safety and responsible technology use are deeply embedded, equipping learners with lasting awareness of privacy, online behaviour, digital citizenship, and security.

The Digi journey

A structured computing pathway designed for continuous progression: three key stages that empower young learners with digital mastery, foundational coding, and direct routes into formal qualifications.

Digi Explorers: grades 1–2

Key Stage 1 (ages 5–7) • Build the foundations

Young learners start their journey by understanding essential digital principles. Key focus areas include digital literacy, online safety, simple algorithms, introductory programming, and creative digital media.

Digi Navigators: grades 3–6

Key Stage 2 (ages 7–11) • Develop digital confidence

Students expand practical capabilities through applied block programming, focused internet research, multimedia creation, structured data handling, spreadsheets, and collaborative modern technology.

Digi Trailblazers: grades 7–9

Key Stage 3 (ages 11–14) • Advance into computing

Learners dive deep into core computer science topics: computational algorithms, transitional coding from Scratch into Python, binary logic, Boolean expressions, and structured data systems.

Next steps: NCC Education Level 2

Formal qualification pathway • GCSE / IGCSE equivalent

Upon finishing Digi Grades 7–9, students smoothly progress into the regulated NCC Education Level 2 Award or Diploma in Computing, establishing verified credentials for future academic success.

Why Register for the NCC Education Digi Computing Curriculum?

Digi Computing Curriculum

Upon completion of the Digi Computing Curriculum, students gain essential digital skills, aligned with the National Computing Curriculum. They receive certification and assessment at each key stage, with the opportunity to achieve an NCC Education Level 2 Award in Computing. With access to digital learning resources, students are empowered with the knowledge and qualifications to advance in computing education and future careers.

Assessment and recognition across key stages

The Digi pathway provides structured opportunities for students to gain formal recognition as they progress through each stage of their computing education.

For Grades 1–2, upon completion of the lower-primary Digi Curriculum, learners may be entered for formal assessment leading to official qualification certification. Recognition continues seamlessly across subsequent Key Stages, encouraging students to showcase their advancing technical abilities, digital literacy, and computational problem-solving.

For Grades 7–9, completing the full Digi Key Stage prepares students for formal assessments and qualification certificates, creating a clear and direct progression route towards the regulated NCC Education Level 2 Computing qualification.

Your computing journey doesn't stop at grade 9

The NCC Education Digi Curriculum provides the essential foundations for continued study in computing. Learners progress through Digi Grades 1–2 (Key Stage 1), advance into Digi Grades 3–6 (Key Stage 2), and build sophisticated technical fluency in Digi Grades 7–9 (Key Stage 3).

Upon finishing Grade 9, students progress further with Britannia directly into the NCC Education Level 2 Award or Level 2 Diploma in Computing, leading seamlessly to further Level 3 study and formal UK qualifications that prepare every child for higher education and technological careers.

Who is Digi for?

Digi is designed for young learners eager to build essential digital foundations. It is ideal for students who want to develop strong digital skills from an early age, enjoy computers, technology, and problem-solving, and seek to learn programming progressively. The curriculum provides structured computing education alongside wider studies, ensuring students understand vital online safety and responsible digital citizenship while paving the way towards formal computing qualifications.
