Meet Our AQA Unit Award Scheme Assessor
Florența Vatavu
AQA Unit Award Scheme Assessor, Britannia International Academy®
Florența Vatavu supports the assessment of student learning submitted through Britannia International Academy’s AQA Unit Award Scheme provision.
Student evidence is reviewed thoroughly against the learning outcomes and evidence requirements of the selected unit before eligible achievement is progressed for certification.
Learn. Achieve. Be recognised.
At Britannia International Academy, we believe that achievement should be recognised throughout a student’s educational journey — not only at the end of a full qualification.
The AQA Unit Award Scheme provides a flexible way for students to have individual achievements formally recognised. Students complete clearly defined learning outcomes and provide the evidence required by the relevant unit. Once a unit has been successfully completed and processed through the scheme, the student receives an official AQA Unit Award Scheme certificate detailing the specific outcomes achieved.
What is the AQA Unit Award Scheme?
The Unit Award Scheme (UAS) is an AQA programme designed to recognise individual learning and achievement. AQA provides an extensive library of units covering curriculum subjects, practical learning, life skills, employability, enrichment, and many other areas.
Each unit clearly identifies:
- What the learner needs to achieve
- The learning outcomes that must be demonstrated
- The evidence required
Students may complete individual standalone units or, where appropriate, combinations of units. Successful learners can build a comprehensive portfolio of certificates demonstrating their knowledge, skills, and experience.
How it works at Britannia
A transparent, step-by-step pathway from your first application to receiving your official AQA Unit Award Scheme certificate.
01. Apply for recognition
A parent, guardian, or eligible learner contacts Britannia International Academy to request formal assessment through the AQA Unit Award Scheme and begin the process.
02. Select the unit
Our academic team identifies the appropriate AQA UAS unit tailored to the learning completed, the student’s level, and the specific outcomes and evidence required.
03. Complete learning and evidence
The learner completes their study and collates required evidence, such as written work, projects, presentations, worksheets, practical activities, and portfolios.
04. Assessment and certification
Assessor Florența Vatavu evaluates the submitted work against unit outcomes. Once verified, achievements are submitted to AQA, and the official certificate is issued.
One unit. One achievement. One certificate.
A structured and modular approach to celebrating individual steps in every student's learning journey through the AQA Unit Award Scheme.

Supporting Britannia students: an additional way to recognise learning
For students already enrolled at Britannia International Academy, the Unit Award Scheme provides an effective and flexible method of formally recognising selected learning completed across their wider educational programme.
Where an appropriate UAS unit aligns with the study completed and the necessary evidence is provided, students can be put forward for official certification.
This valuable recognition complements:
- Britannia progress reports
- Curriculum achievement records
- Ongoing teacher assessments
- Interim and formative assessments
- Standardised assessments, where applicable
- External qualifications
