Britannia International Academy was honoured to participate in an important hybrid information event hosted by the Consulate General of Romania in Manchester, dedicated to supporting Romanian families living in the United Kingdom.
Bringing together parents, education professionals, community representatives and consular officials, the event focused on three essential themes affecting many Romanian families abroad: education, child safety and safeguarding.
Held both in person at the Consulate and online via Webex, the event enabled families from across the UK to access reliable information, ask questions and engage directly with experts.
Practical Guidance for Romanian Families
During the event, the Consul General and members of the consular team presented two practical guides developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help Romanian families better understand key aspects of child welfare in the UK.
The first guide focuses on recognising and responding to bullying and cyberbullying, offering parents practical advice on identifying warning signs, communicating effectively with schools and accessing appropriate support services.
The second guide explains how the UK child protection system operates, outlining parents' rights and responsibilities, the role of local authorities and the importance of cooperation between Romanian and British institutions whenever concerns arise regarding a child's wellbeing.
These resources represent an important step in helping Romanian families navigate the British educational and safeguarding systems with confidence.
Britannia International Academy's Contribution
Representing Britannia International Academy were:
- Florenta Vatavu, UK Country Manager
- Alina Bădescu, Academic Adviser at Britannia International Academy and founder of the "Nicolae Iorga" Romanian School in Manchester
Together, they shared practical information about the educational opportunities available to Romanian children through flexible online learning.
Topics included:
- British online education
- Homeschooling and alternative educational pathways
- Internationally recognised qualifications
- Supporting Romanian families relocating between the United Kingdom and Romania
- Flexible education for travelling and internationally mobile families
- University progression opportunities through internationally recognised programmes
The presentations highlighted how modern online education can provide continuity, flexibility and internationally recognised academic pathways while maintaining high educational standards.
Working Together for the Benefit of Every Child
One of the key messages emerging from the event was that successful education and child wellbeing rely on strong collaboration between families, schools, community organisations and public institutions.
Open dialogue, access to reliable information and cooperation between educational providers and public authorities help ensure that children receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Britannia International Academy is proud to contribute to this shared mission by supporting Romanian families with accessible, high-quality online education that enables students to learn from anywhere while preparing for internationally recognised qualifications and future university study.
